Hirdesh Uppal:

Hirdesh Uppal, DVM, Ph.D., is currently a Scientist in Safety Assessment & Development Sciences at Genentech Inc.  During Hirdesh's time in both biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, he has excelled at developing scientific and strategic solutions to issues vexing the industry as well as conducting scientific research & translating the needs of the drug development into meaningful outcomes which significantly increase value and impact the decision making process.  Currently, Hirdesh is developing and applying cutting edge stem cell technologies to harness the power of pluripotent stem cells to transform drug discovery and enable the promise of regenerative medicine.  In addition to his scientific role, Hirdesh actively participates in Due Diligence & Business Development efforts at Genentech.  Hirdesh has over 10 years’ experience in drug development across the value chain including several industry patent applications, previous work at F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd doing preclinical drug development & investigative drug safety, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine doing pharmacology and toxicology research and for a Government of India Vaccine Institute doing vaccine development.  Hirdesh has also served in leadership roles in miscellaneous industry consortia and has been an invited speaker at many scientific meetings.
